Gerrie (68), originally from Rotterdam, has been living in the Algarve for years with his second wife Rosa, but is still officially registered in the Netherlands. A former bus driver and COPD patient, he returns to Rotterdam once a year for medical check-ups and routine visits. During his stay, he lodges with his Cape Verdean stepdaughter and reconnects with his son Dick (45), who struggles with himself and the world around him. While Gerrie has long avoided confronting his son’s issues, Dick hopes for meaningful time together. As the possibility arises that this might be Gerrie’s last visit to the Netherlands, unresolved emotions and expectations begin to surface.
